General Questions

 

Q: I have never played badminton / I'm a beginner. Can I come?

A:  Unfortunately, our club is geared towards intermediate players and upwards. However, we're happy to recommend our friends at the 'No Strings' badminton sessions at Hinckley Leisure Centre, which run on Wednesdays from 7:00-9:00 PM and Sundays from 10:00 AM-9:00 PM. Once you've gained more experience and feel you're ready for a challenge, please don't hesitate to get back in touch with us. We'd be delighted to welcome you to our club when you're ready to take your skills to the next level!

Q: How do I get in touch with the club?
A: You can contact us via email, phone, or through our social media channels. Our contact information is available on our website. Just click on 'Contact us'

Q: How old to I have to be to play at the club?

A: You need to be 16+ to play.

​

Q: Where can I get a racket restung?

A: A couple of our club members have their own restringing services, which we can put you in touch with. Alternatively, a popular choice among our members is Central Sports, who offer expert racket stringing services: Racket Services (centralsports.co.uk)

Q: When the is the club closed?

A: Our club is typically open, except on bank holidays when the Leisure Centre closes early. On those days, we're closed for the day. But on all other nights, we're open as usual.

Q: Do you offer coaching sessions?

A. No, we don't have any qualified coaches at our club.

Membership and Fees

Q: What is the membership fee for the badminton club?
A:   Our club season from September to April is around £150 which includes access to all Monday sessions

We have a summer membership which is around £70 when membership is paid for the season before. 

However, these prices are subject to change per year depending on how many members we have, prices of shuttles, cost of the badminton courts etc.

Q: Can I try out the club before joining?
A: Yes you can and the price is £7.50 per session which is paid to us, not the Leisure Centre. However please contact us before to reserve a spot.

Club Sessions

 

Q: What time and day is club night?

A: Our club night is 20:00 - 22:00 Mondays .

Q: Where is club night?

A: We play at Hinckley Leisure Centre. You can find the Centre address on the contact us page.

Q: How many court are available on club night?

A: Currently we have 3 courts booked on Monday nights.

Q: What are the club sessions like?
A:  Expect a lively and competitive atmosphere. The club is perfect for those who want to play with like-minded players, improve their skills, and enjoy some competitive fun and friendly matches. The sessions are well-structured, with a mix of practice and games, allowing you to test your skills and challenge yourself against other intermediate players.

Q: My daughter / son wants to learn to play badminton. Can they come?
A: Our club night is more geared towards experienced players. If your child is just starting out, we recommend checking out the 'No Strings' badminton sessions at Hinckley Leisure Centre, which are more designed for juniors and beginners. These sessions take place on Wednesdays from 7:00-9:00 PM and Sundays from 10:00 AM-9:00 PM. Our members have found them to be a great way to get started and improve their skills. Q: Do you do singles, doubles and mixed?

The club is typically reserved for doubles and mixed matches, but we sometimes have availability for singles later in the evening when the courts are less crowded.

Q: Do I need to book a spot in advance for club sessions?
A: Yes, we recommend booking a spot in advance to ensure availability especially as our clubs can get very busy. You can do this by contacting us.

Q: Can I attend club sessions if I'm not a member?
A: During our club season, which runs from September to April, we welcome guests to visit up to three times for a fee of £7.50 per visit. After that, you will have to sign up a full membership. Any amount you've already paid will be deducted from the full membership cost, ensuring a smooth transition. For example, if our full membership costs £150 and you've paid £22.50, you'll only need to pay the remaining £127.50.

Summer season (providing you have contacted us before) you can attend club sessions whenever you wish. This is £7.50 per session.

Tournaments and Events

 

Q: What kind of tournaments and events does the club host?
A:  While we don't host our own tournaments, we're always happy to share information about local badminton tournaments in the area. Our members are a great resource for finding out what's happening in the community, and we're always eager to help each other stay connected.

Outside of tournaments, we like to have some fun together! We organise regular social events throughout the year, including casual gatherings like BBQs and holiday celebrations. These events are a great way to catch up with fellow players and make some new friends.

Equipment and Facilities

 

Q: What kind of equipment do I need to bring to club sessions?
A: You'll need to bring your own racket, shoes, and clothing. We provide the shuttlecocks.

Q: Do you play with feathers or plastics?

A: We play with feathers. 

​

Q: Are there showers and changing facilities available?
A: Yes, there are showers and changing facilities available at the Leisure Centre.

Q: Can I store my equipment at the club?
A: While we appreciate the convenience of storing your equipment, we have limited space available for member gear. To ensure a smooth flow of play and maintain our courts' cleanliness, we recommend that all members leave their bags on the side of the courts and take them with them once they're finished using the facilities.
