LM 1 vs Olympic BC, 24/01, by Ben C "3rd match for the team, and a 3rd partner for Chris... This time letting him live the dream on his bromance 👬, and play with Phil. Ian turned up a shade late, so C&P played as 1st pair, Rich & Ben as 2nd, with Ian & Steve being the sneaky 3rd pair. Olympic hadn't posted good results, so we were confident going into the match. The first round of matches almost proved this true, R&B taking their win to 15 point across the 2 games, and C&P putting in solid wins to 14 & 12. Ian and Steve started slowly, just scraping a first game to 19, following with a more confident 2nd game to 13. 3-0, in 6 games was a good start. The second round proved an improvement for most pairs, though R&B started their 2nd game 3-10 down, and looked to be heading to a 3rd when they came in to serve at 17-20 down. A few savvy points (including a flick serve past 20) and a lot of focus brought the game to a 23-21 win. 6-0, in 12 games, and match win secured. The last round saw Ian and Steve finally back in stride, conceding 11 points in the rubber, and permanently on the attack. Phil and Chris put in their nirmal solid scorelines, and Rich and Ben again decided to give their opponents a head start, and drew the match to a close on another 23-21... Value for money I think!. Overall some good rallies, but we we ulrimately just better by enough to bring home another impressice scoreline. 3-0 in the league, 26-1 on games. Bring on the next team!"
