Match Report 21st February 2019
LM1 vs Millenium / Olympic II (A)
In prep for this match it started out the beginning of the week like any other...desperately trying to get players in at the last minute!đ¤šââ Still a team was found, this the final team to play in Leic league. Win this and we arguably take the league!
Match day, Daz makes the error of swapping letters round in the post code 'is it at the space centre' đ¤Śââď¸. Still players made it, unfortunately Neil and Mart had to sit this one out much to their disappointment. And we're off...the hall was hot and shuttles were dying, the opposition were returning every smash Chris could throw at themđ, a quick change of tack and Phil and Chris secured all their rubbers in 3. To compliment the match environment there was also rave music being played on the courts opposite!đŞ
Steve and Ian had a similar story, 3 rubbers taken relatively comfortable with both pairs conceding the same amount of points!
Darren and Kwai up next. Their first match against the 2nds (who were actually 1sts, sneakyđ) Daz was blowing, a quick 'Kwai can you run round for me' was uttered and a change of racket to a shiny new Glanz𤊠saw an improvement but not in time. Next up the '1sts' Daz and Kwai taking it to 3, should have claimed the win at 17-11 up however the wheels were off đ´and the pair feeling robbed, it wasn't to be. 3rds up next and redemption awaits. A comfortable win in 2 to 12/13, the Trinity juggernaut was motoring againđđđ.
The dramas of the night, an argument over a foul net shot but Daz was winning anyway at the time! and Chris and Phil being called out on our serve for being too high! To which Phil responded I'm not being funny we've played all season, against the Chairman of Leic division and students and your the first team to call us on it! That had sealed Olympics fate....7-2 Win for Trinity, every team beaten in the league with only 3 returns left to play. Division 3 here we come! Well done teamđ and thanks to those stepping inđđ¤, a good night's badminton. Well played!
