A slightly delayed match report to mirror a slightly delayed match. Arriving at KO time to a bustling school open day and no sign of any opposition players. Panicked phone calls established the match was still on, just an hour later than posted. After an hour in the pub we started:
Tom and Khalid were pair 1. Assured and consistent performance throughout, beating their 1sts 18 & 19, the 2nds 18 & 12 and the 3rds 16 & 10. Starting the season in good form as a pairing.
Ben and Alex were pair 2 and got their money's worth. Losing against the 1sts 21-23, 21-16 & 21-18. Beating the 2nds 19-21, 21-17 & 19-21. Lastly the 3rds beaten 12 & 15. Great play from Alex making up for a lack of sharpness from Ben.
Finally Jake and Ethan resuming their pairing from last year. Beating their 1sts 12-21 21-18 & 14-21. The 2nds 16 & 18 and the 3rds 12 & 19. Comfortable throughout.
Overall running out 8-1 winners against (we're told) one of the strongest teams in the division!
