The first match of the season for RM1 kicked off at St Phillips 1 who narrowly missed out on winning the league last season. A tough night ahead was expected.
Jake and Ethan kicked things off against their first pair with a close first set losing 21-17, followed by a full collapse in the second 21-8. The sauna we were playing in proving difficult to adjust to. 1-0.
Ben and Darren went against their seconds, put up a good fight but narrowly lost 21-17 and 21-19.
Jake and Ethan then took on their second pair, losing the first set 21-18. Mid game haribo resulted in a confident turnaround with trinity taking the next two sets 21-16, 21-17. 2-1.
Ben and Darren took on their first pair, narrowly losing 21-19 in the first. The boys started pulling out some incredible shots and took the next two sets 21-14, 21-16. 2-2 into the split.
Jake and Darren up in the split, challenged well but ultimately lost 21-16, 21-18. Ben and Ethan took on the other split, winning comfortably in two 21-16, 21-16.
Overall, very good first outing for RM1 against a rival for the title. Reverse fixture will be interesting…
