With Khalid out injured it was time for Ben's debut for LM1 as we faced our last new opponents for the season. Sitting in 3rd, a win would take us top with a game in hand over everyone else.
Dan & Chris opened up with a 21-10 21-15 win against their firsts and ended with a 21-7 21-13 win against the seconds. In between, the game with their thirds was also a win at 21-4 10-21 21-7. The potentially match-deciding action going on on other courts may have proven a distraction during the 2nd end...
Ben & Tom were together for the first time. They looked strong to start with but a bit nervy and unfamiliar with each other, and errors were creeping in. They lost to their seconds then firsts, 12-21 17-21 then 13-21 11-21, but finished strongly taking their thirds down 21-16 20-22 21-9. A job well done.
Ian & Shaz put on a solid show, and took down their thirds and seconds 21-12 22-20 and 21-17 13-21 21-17. The game against the seconds featured some heated disputes between Ian and an opponent over some line calls that threatened to get out of hand... but the Trinity boys managed to refocus and get the job done. They then lost 14-21 17-21 to their firsts.
A 6-3 win in the end, leaving us top of the table with a game in hand.
