Match Report 29th November 2019
LM2 vs Ashby (A)
It’s a respectable loss for LM2 lost the match 3-6 to the Ashby team. It’s a great respect for the whole LM2 team standing together in the fight, irrespective of the pre-match confusions and unexpected drop outs from the standard pairing.
Firstly thanks to Mr. Prem, Saviour of the day for jumping in to join the team to avoid the forfeit. We know, it’s hard without proper practice but respect your fight on the court.*
LM2 star pair Alex & Dan have started with their 3rd pair easily, won to 19 & 16. They do have a tall person in each of their pair and beating them to lift the shuttle to the tram line is almost difficult in each of the game. They have again won easily on their 2nd pair to 13 getting 2 rubbers to LM2. Its then their first pair, of who are decent but beatable and we can see Alex & Dan won their first game easily. We almost got the win and I was thinking, they have got the hat trick, but unfortunately lost the next two games to 18 & 19. Very close loss and the opponents 2 point lead through out the game has put our team under pressure, causing some unforced errors costed the rubber. its near hat trick and I’m sure this pair is a challenging pair for any opponent in this division. They have got 8/9 rubbers in last 3 matches for LM2 and may break Trinity winning records. Well done Alex & Dan for the good fight on the court.
Sam & Kiranam playing with their second pair proved challenging on the glossy court lost the first game, but fought back on the second game winning to 12. There always will be pressure in third game and unforced errors costed us the game losing to 18. Things would have been much comfortable winning this game, but there are definite learnings from the game. Sam & Kiranam has easily won on their third pair to 12 in both games with some nice touches. At this stage Ashby are 4 - 2 up, and we definitely need to get the remaining rubbers for a win. Sam fighting on their first pair with good smashes has brought the 17 -19, but again the pressure of that 2 point lead costed some unforced errors loosing the game. Having the advantage the home team easily got their 2 game. Thanks Sam fighting for the wins, but there some definite learnings.
Darren & Prem had given a good fight through out all the games , which went to 3 games with their third pair but unfortunately lost the rubber on some close calls. We can see Prem struggling a little and Darren bringing his all singles skills with rest of the pairs hadn’t brought any wins for us with the third pair.
Finally, there are good learnings in all games for all the pairs and is an expected result given the pre match confusions, drop outs and delays. We’re sure will bounce back in the home games. Special thanks to Alex : driving us there to the venue.

RB2 vs QDJC2 (H)
Our 3rd match but the 1st time we’ve managed to get all the ladies together! We started off hopeful with me/Annie beating their 1st pair and Andrea/Ruth 1 up against the 2nd pair. Went downhill from there though with the 2nd pair stepping up a gear & taking the game off Andrea/Ruth. Me/Annie lost to the 2nd pair with 2 close games, 15 & 18, then Andrea/Ruth took theirs to 3, but unfortunately just couldn’t take the game. On the split we both lost, but they were close games. Final score 5 - 1 loss, but I’m really pleased with our performance.

LM1 vs Loughborough Students III (H) As I sit here with another beer, and all my team are tucked up I have time to reflect! The 'student's' from Loughborough are a force to be reckoned with. Everyone of the squad tonight played some great badminton and stepped up their game. It was needed. I spoke with the captain as he arrived ''my teams on the way, we've just played a match at a university and are driving over' oh🤔, oh F#$%! This was gonna be a tough one, so sleeves were rolled up.
Chris and Phil took their 1st pair, but only just and it went to 3!. A long night ahead. We all had a solid chance against their 2nd pair, with most going to 3. To give you an idea, rubbers were taken to 3 and our guys had 28-25s 25-23s. With some very close games to 19, 18, etc. You get the idea. We took a 8-1 loss against argubly the best team this season. A 5-4 win is very possible away, but is going to require some witchcraft, voodoo, inscence, dodgy bribes and a hobbling of the opposition!
A nice team to play against, tough games, but great badminton had by all. No-one could have done more. Well played team🍻. The away match will decide all🙏🏻🤞🔮📿🔭🎇
