RM1 travelled over to take on Lutterworth 1, confidence high after a good win against St Phillips 1 only 6 days prior. Things were off to a bad start with Khalid forgetting his court shoes. Thankfully Tom was willing to play in standard trainers and let Khalid borrow his court shoes. Double match fees now required from Khalid.
Tom and Khalid took on the experienced first pair, winning 21-10 & 21-19. Jake and Ethan took on the new look second pair, winning 21-9 & 21-13. Comfortable 2-0 lead.
Tom and Khalid walked through the second pair, winning 21-6 & 21-8. Jake and Ethan struggled to get a grip on the game against the first pair, losing 21-16 & 21-14. Less comfortable 3-1 lead.
Into the split, Tom and Ethan struggled against 1 & 3, losing 21-16 & 21-16. Jake and Khalid got the job done against 2 & 4, winning 21-17 & 21-14.
4-2 win for RM1 bringing us to second in the table with 4 games to go…

RM1 took on top of the table St Phillips 1, this was their final game of the season so we thought best to send them off with a heavy defeat.
Tom and Khalid beat the first pair 23-21 & 21-17, tight game to start. Jake and Ethan beat the second pair 21-18, 18-21 & 21-14, a complacent second set but good conviction in the third.
Tom and Khalid with a comfortable win 21-17 & 21-12 against the second pair. Jake and Ethan with the showcase game of the evening, beating the first pair 22-20, 18-21 & 22-20.
4-0 up into the split, pressure slightly relieved but I tried to keep Khalid as focused as possible which proved a challenge.
Tom and Ethan (playing together for the first time in a while) lost 16-21 & 13-21. Jake and Khalid winning 23-21 & 21-15 in a very lazy game but had enough to see it through.
5-1 win for RM1, onwards and upwards.

With a continued rotation of team players, this match comprised of Sam W & Kiranam, Dan Murley & Prem, Dave & Paul.
We arrived at our venue with the look of dread in our eyes 👀 as we all spotted the illuminous plastic shuttles on offer 🤢
Not to be deterred we got into match mode, with Sam & Kiranam beating their 1st pair in 2. Prem & Dan 'struggling to adjust to the plastics' unfortunately lost in 2 to their 2nds, who were the strongest pair. With Dave and Paul winning in 3 to their 3rds.
During Paul and Daves 3rd game the oppostion asked us to play out of sequence to get some more games underway. We suggested it wasn't the best idea, but were talked into doing so.
Kiranam/Sam, Dan/Prem took the next games in 2 with Dave and Paul determined to get their monies worth and going to 3 with a win.
5-1 up for Trinity the win in the bag and onto the final 3 rubbers.
Dan/Prem beat their 3rds in 2 with some close fought rallies.
6-1 up
Sam/Kiranam 1-0 up winning the 2nd, with Dave/Paul 1-0 down to their 2nds looking like a 7-2 Trinity win, when Time was called. Thus the opposition having to relinquish their final rubbers.
So an 8-1 away win with plastics. Fantastic result for the team, well done to all players. 👊🏼
