What's new?

Match Report. Last night. . After the accidental first match defeat for LM3 it was important to keep winning and Croakers are sitting top of the table. First up for Trinity were Kiranam and Sam who took all 3 rubbers in 2 at all times keeping the opposition at arms length not conceding more than 17. Next up Dan Murley and myself , taking all 3 in comfort with 3 of the 6 games being taken to single digit points.

However the heroes of the night were Dave and Euan who firstly despatched the croakers 3rd pair in straight games. However life got more difficult with Euan visibly struggling with a painful elbow. ( 3 games in 4 days 🤷‍♂️) but despite this handicap they fought bravely going to 3 against the first and second pair but the challenge was just a little too much. So 7-2 for the match a nice win pulling us up the table where we need to be. 💪

Loughborough town won the league last season winning every match, so we knew we were in for a tester. Their team on the day comprised four leicestershire county players including the County Captain and a first team player...

Dan and Isaac frustratingly lost out very narrowly to the first pair, being 18-16 up in the first and losing it 18-21, but managed to take the other two pairs down with very convincing scorelines against each.

Sam and Chris played together for the first time - Sam's cool, controlling game combining well with Chris's chaotic, aggressive attack - and got the job done against their third pair without too much trouble. They also had a close loss against the second pair which we all felt they could have taken on another day. The first pair was a tough game for them, and they lost out on that as well.

Ian and Jack's first game out was against the third pair, and they struggled to find the gears early on, unfortunately losing out narrowly. They then went on to beat the second pair (who were, in my eyes, significantly stronger than the third pair) in what was a blinding performance, Jack battering smashes through and Ian cooly turning their smashes into cross court net winners, 21-13 in the third! They also had a tough time against the first pair though, swallowing a 21-3 loss along the way 😬

So, a 5-4 loss for LM1, on a day where we could easily have won one of 3 games that went the other way. A frustrating but nevertheless positive result against what is some of the strongest opposition the Leicestershire league has to offer!

Having been bullied into being Captain for the night, it falls to me to do the match report. Background: As a new Trinity team in the league this year it is important that we win this Division to ensure promotion. We have more than enough talent to do this within the team …..

however due to a Trinity admin error our LM3 boys were denied a victory ( despite winning 6-3 on the court) in the away leg. Subsequently having to concede 3 turning victory into defeat ( who’s running this club 😈😀). Thus it was necessary to ensure a big win for the home leg.

With Dan M and Ethan not available we had to scratch around for some players. So enter Ian Shaz Sam Kiranam and Darren. Add to this a weakened opposition team v last time and all was well. Pairings were Shaz and Sam, Daz and Kiranam, Ian and myself. What to say. No drama all games won confortably in 2. Match score 9-0. With the average points conceded per game 9.5. well done all. Mission accomplished LM3 should now be on top of league. Respect those regulars who stepped aside for the night. Now the path is clear to win the rest of the games. 👍
