Match report RB2 v QDJC: pairs were Alex/Tracey, Kirinam/Tabs. A/T list their opening game to 16, but made up for it by taking the next two 22-20. K/T also lost their opener to 19, won the 2nd 21-13 forcing the game to a decider, unfortunately they lost the 3rd to 15.
A/T made hard work of it against the 2nd pair. 1st game was straight forward, winning to 7, but then lost the 2nd to 17 and eventually winning the 3rd to 13. K/T were strong in the 1st game against the 1st pair, winning to 17, but they couldn’t keep the momentum going losing the next 2 to 16 & 13. We went into the split 2-2 and there is good news at last …. K/T won theirs in 2.
A/T took their to 3 games, but couldn’t get the win. Our best result yet 3 - 3 draw!!! And we got our money’s worth with 5 of the 6 going to 3 games 😅
RB2 Captain Tracey
RM1 took on our good friends Lutterworth 1. Tom & Khalid took on their 1st pair, coming through in 3 (17-21, 21-14, 21-13). Jake & Ethan against the 2nd pair, comfortable warm up (21-12, 21-14).
Tom & Khalid back in rhythm beating the 2nd pair in 2 (21-18, 21-12). Jake & Ethan making hard work of it but ultimately beating their 1st pair in 3 (27-25, 9-21, 21-18).
Into the split, a last minute change in pairings due to a mistake by the rookie captain (sorry). Tom & Jake winning in 3 after a lazy second set (21-14, 12-21, 21-16). Khalid & Ethan battled well but lost in 3 (14-21, 21-18, 11-21). Khalid not impressed with the captain writing the pairings down wrong pre match, lesson learnt…
5-1 Win for RM1. Unbeaten into the new year.
RM1 Captain Jake
A flying start to the season for LM1 against South Leicestershire in the club's first ever match in Leicestershire's top division! A 6-3 win overall; Dan and Isaac taking all three, Ian and Jack only getting the one, although it should have been two if not for a rocky start (not helped by dodgeballs flying over from the courts nextdoor), and Chris and Shaz pulling out a star performance winning 2 and only losing to the first pair 19-21 in the third end. Great way to start off a season where the main goal is staying up!
LM1 Captain Dan
