What's new?

The final game of the season for LM1. Sitting level with Central Leicester who have already finished, for us a win or taking at least 3 rubbers would be enough to top the table. Regulars Chris and Shaz were unavailable, although Ian decided to play despite some doubts due to pain in his back. Regulars Dan, Ben, Khalid & Tom were ready, and Darren stepped up for his proper LM1 debut.

Dan & Darren first, and in their first two games they beat the first two pairs 22-20 21-19 and 21-15 21-9. Khalid & Tom came back together and also beat the same pairs, 21-14 21-10 and 21-9 21-12 in a confident display. Ian & Ben also took them down 21-12 22-11 and 21-14 21-15 without much issue. Meanwhile, the opposition third pair were nowhere to be seen, so 21-0's all round!

A solid 9-0 from the team to seal the deal and confirm LM1's promotion into Leicestershire division 1. Thanks to everyone who played throughout the season. Now, the hard work needs to be done to prepare for the new season and try and stay in the top flight...

Jake & Ethan kicked off proceedings against their 1st pair. Comfortably winning the first set 21-16, the new partnership working very effectively. Taking the foot off the gas and errors creeping in led to losing the second set 17-21. Final set was hard fought but unfortunately lost 18-21. 0-1

Kiranam & Daan faced their second pair. A slow start in the first set resulted in a loss of 11-21. The second pair were evidently stronger than the firsts. A good effort in the second but St Phillips took it 8-21. 0-2

Jake & Ethan’s turn to face to second pair. An extremely tight first set ended with St Phillips taking it 21-23. Lucozade and sweets consumed ready to take it to 3. A strong second set by Trinity taking it 21-17. Final set again very tight but Trinity edged it to take a well deserved win 21-19. 1-2

Kiranam & Daan took on the first pair. A very close first set was taken by St Phillips 18-21. The boys had started to find their stride. A very intense second set was just edged by St Phillips 20-22. 1-3 going into the split

Jake & Daan took on 1 & 3. A very slow start going 5-14 down. But a burst of energy resulted in a slightly prettier 14-21 win for St Phillips. Carrying the energy into the second set, Trinity cruised through 21-15. The game plan was now set. Into the final set and the game plan worked wonders with Trinity taking it 21-15. 2-3 with one to go

Kiranam & Ethan took on 2 & 4. A great start from the boys taking the first set 21-17. St Phillips grew into the second set taking it 17-21. Another game going the distance… St Phillips continued to grow into the game and took the last set 15-21. 2-4 final score

A tough loss to take but some excellent badminton played throughout the night. Big shift put in from the Trinity boys but a 4-2 win for St Phillips 1. Lots of positives to take forward💪🏽
