What's new?

A congested period for the LM2 team over the next 3 weeks, we needed a good start to carry momentum forward into the festive period

Usual pairings were decided with first up, Ben & Phil

Ben & Phil demonstrated ruthless qualities over the 3 rubbers, beating all pairs in 2. Highlights of the scores being a complete demolition of the 2nd pair, letting them score a grand total of 4 points. (21-14, 21-13), ( 21-4, 21-13) & (21-18, 21-15)

Next up, Alex & Daan. Both absolutely nailed all 3 rubbers, again all in 2. Highlight of the match, beating the 1st pair to only 6 & 11! (21-6, 21-11), (21-19, 21-10) & (21-16, 21-11)

Final pairing Darren & Neil. There was a reason why such analysis of the above pairs were short, I never got to see the others play as our first match finished at 20:55. History showed that we like our games going to 3, so we knew there wouldn’t be much sitting down (unlike the other pairs who were bored waiting 🤣) However, there was a clear highlight for this pair, we won our final game in 2 🙀😅)

(21-16, 18-21, 21-14) (21-12, 19-21, 21-18) & (21-11, 21-14)

Well done team, great job

9-0

Unbeaten so far, students 2 were looking like they may be our league title rivals... Ian phoned in sick early in the day, but with some rest, encouragement and drugs decided he felt fit to turn out for the team.

Dan & Chris were fired up, and faced their third pair first, destroying their confidence with a 21-8 21-7 win. They were then up against the firsts, and blew them away in the first end 21-8 before surviving a potential comeback 21-18 in the second. They finished up the match against the seconds, who gave some trouble, ultimately fell 21-15 21-16.

Ian & Shaz took on their seconds and lost 17-21 14-21, both of them struggling a bit to find their feet. Nonetheless, the pair bounced back against their thirds, winning the crucial game 22-20 21-15. Against the firsts, they battled closely and lost it 19-21 20-22. We all felt they would have taken it if Ian was at 100%.

Khalid & Tom started against the firsts and struggled to get going, losing it 9-21 17-21. Against the seconds, they won the first 21-17 and were looking very sharp, but eventually lost the next two 14-21 14-21. Heads dropped and some stern words were needed to try and inject some positivity before their final game with their thirds - 4-4 the total score... They came out strong to our delight, winning the first 21-16. Up in the second, they squandered match point after match point and ended up losing the second end 25-27! Nerves were jangling among the spectators, but they decided enough was enough and took them apart in the third end, winning 21-13.

So, a 5-4 win to LM1 continues the win streak!

Heading into our third match with 2 wins already in the bag the team went into this fixture full of confidence but we realised it will be a challenge during the warm up playing with plastics.

Continuing with the same pairings, Adib and Prem as pair 1 took on the Lutterworth pair 1, winning the first game 14 - 21 before Luttworth came back to win the second game 21 - 12. The third game was tight all the way until a few errors from Trinity let the lead slip away and end up losing 17 - 21.

Against pair 2 it was a straight forward win for our pair 1 winning in 2 with the opposition only.managing 10 and 9 points in both games.

Pair 2 were Paul and Hitesh taking on Lutterworth's pair 2 and winning in 2 with scores being 18 and 19 for oppositions. More points conceaded due to own errors than anything else.

Playing against the pair 1 we lost in 2 but always felt we had a chance but lack of consistancy cost us the game losing by 16 and 19.

Going into the split at 2 all.

Carrying on with the same pairs for the split as previous game Adib and Paul won the first game 19 - 21 before dominating the second game to win 12 - 21. Hitesh and Prem also won in 2 with the score being 17 and 12.

We definitely could have played better and even had a better result if it wasn't for plastics. Look forward to the return fixture in 2023 with feathers.

Trinity RM3 win 4 - 2

Thats our 2022 games done with a 100% record of 3 out of 3 wins. Hopefully we can continue adding to the winning streak in 2023.
