Match Report 18th December 2019

LM2 vs Mowbray I (H)

It’s a fantastic win for LM2 won 7 - 2 rubbers, in the match with Mowbray 1. Tremendous performance from all pairs winning 16 - 4 games today. *

It’s a must win for LM2 as Mowbray are on top of the league table and already beat Ashby, with whom LM2 last the previous game. All pairs performed to the challenge.

Starting with our star pair of LM2 Alex & Dan, with their first pair ( who actually is their 3rd pair) won comfortably to 6 & 16. Having only two courts for the first hour, they had to wait long for their next games. Their second game with mowbray’s second pair ( who actually are their first pair) went comfortably winning to 9 & 19. There is no stopping, they continued their excellence with the 3rd pair ( who is their second pair) winning to 15 & 14. TOP GAME from this star pair with attack and net returns have troubled the opponents badly, who could score only 79 points in 6 games. Great efforts Alex & Dan. Thank you.

Sam & Kiranam started the game with their first pair winning the first game, but the unforced errors costed the next two games loosing the rubber. Game with their 3rd pair is fun and a straight forward 12 point lead, winning the rubber for us easily. It went to three close games with their second pair, again loosing the rubber to 19 due to some close calls. Sam has given everything in the game could bring 5 straight points, but has some how gone against us. It’s late to realise, but may be more attack may have turned the result to us. We’re sure will fight back in next games. Thanks Sam, for all the hard work on the court. Opponents have scored 98 points against this pair in 8 games.

Coming to Darren & Brad going as third pair started with their second pair winning to 16 & 18. What a performance from this pair, it’s breathtaking and both have fought for every point. There are very nice rallies in all the games they played today, at some point, we had to watch more than a minute of rally winning the point for us. They have easily won on their third pair to 10 & 18 and their first pair to 9 & 16. LM2 for the first time have got all 3 rubbers from this combination, is a tremendous improvement. It looks competition building up within the LM2 to get all 3 rubbers. Opponents have scored 87 points against this pair in 6 games. What a performance guys !! Well played Darren & Brad.

Finally, a big thank you to all the players coming on time and for bringing the right change(match fees). Kudos LM2 👏

Match Report 4th December 2019

LM1 vs South Leic III (H)

Back to the regular squad tonight. We were going in already 3-0 up as the opporsition couldn't field a pair due to a lot of injury. We were their first match of the season as well so we wernt sure who they're put out🤞

1st pair were a good showing with Chris and Phil taking them in 2 to 18+19. Ian and Mart were getting their monies worth going to 3 but both felt it should have been in 2. Neil and Azmath had an interesting battle⚔, losing the 1st game to 15, then coming back with true grit 🤠🤠winning the 2nd game to 7! Then the wheels came off losing the 3rd to 7🤦‍♂🤦‍♂! The 2nd pair were drafted in to bolster the opposition's hopes however lost all 3 rubbers to us low teens and sub 10's💪💪💪

Thats all teams played once now for us, if any of the other teams can upset the students! We're still in with a shot at promotion, but I'm always glass half full kinda guy⚖. Well played lads, nicely done🍻🤝.

Match Report 1st December 2019

LM1 vs Huncote I (A)

We wern't rolling out with the usual squad this time due to some scheduling clashes, and I mean really who plays a match Sunday afternoon🤨!

Alex had stepped in for Chris and some last minute squad changes meant Daz stepped in for Neil. Cap was nervous at fielding 2 unseasoned pairs. Daz was arguably full of beer and sausage after spending most the day at the Xmas market and was sobering up quick smart and Alex was testing his metal for Lm1.

Caps pep talk consisted of Daz you're drunk don't forget your shoes! And let's just win as we can't lose. (side note some ex members had chosen to leave Trinity and join Huncote) Mart and Ian out as 1st pair as they were the regular stables, no dramas, nice strategy, mopped up a comfortable 3 rubbers in 2, true to form. Alex and Phil rolling out for the 1st time as the 2nd pair, did what was needed, mopped up 2. Arguably on paper should have been the 3 but a few missed placed smashes and returns just narrowly saw them miss out on the 3rd.

Daz and Azmath setting out as the 3rd pair started strong, again having rarely played, put in a solid effort with a strong possibility of 2 however after taking them to 3 couldn't finish the winning points. Damn! it was going to be tighter than 1st hoped. There was an on court battle between the opporsition wanting to call Azmaths shot a sling but the guys wernt having it, Daz stepped up, squared off to the guy and all was resolved before it came to blows. Huncote were left unhappy, with a 5-4 to Trinity. Great play guys, well done and thanks to everyone for stepping in and moving around🍻
