Match Report 7th November 2019

LM2 vs Melton OG I (A)

It’s a fantastic 7 - 2 win for LM2 vs Melton OG 1. Well done LM2 team!

We went in with a young & energetic Alex & Dan playing as the first pair. Sam & Kiranam as the second pair and the experienced Darren & Dave as the third pair.

We had only two courts,  Melton's first pair who were good with their smashes and left hand drives weren't enough against the smashing Alex and tricky Dan. One shot that was really good from Alex was a left hand flick on a winning point against their first pair. They didn't looked back and won the rest of the two pairs pretty easily. Well done Alex & Dan for leading the score board with most number of winning rubbers (3) today.

Sam & Kiranam as second pair had a smashing start winning their second pair for 7 & 8 who couldn't digest those brilliant flick serves from Sam. Their third pair played better with mixed shots, but it wasn't enough against Sam's tricky shots and returns. We sat down for almost 20 min due to only 2 courts which might have cooled us down, perhaps giving an advantage to Melton's first pair who won comfortably on us in the first game! There was a good fight in the second game, went equally till 18 points, but we made a few too many errors. Well done Sam for the fantastic performance!

Darren & Dave started a little late with them being third pair but they had a smashing win in two games to 9 &10 comfortably. It went to 3 games with their first pair, first one is a close game 22-20 win for us. Darren is returning everything the opponents throwing in the court. We could see both the teams got tired with a close first game which went in their way for 15 & 16 in the second & third game. We can see Dave is running around the court like a Cheetah(an Indian hunting leopard) to get the shuttle back in the court. Good run Dave!!😀 Their final games with the opponents second pair has reasonable winnings to 11 & 17. Well done Darren & Dave for the brilliant efforts.

Finally Pair of the match is: Alex & Dan for their confidence on the court with powerful smashes and tricky net points. Well played Alex & Dan👏

Match Report 6th November 2019

LM1 vs Central Leicester I (H)

Confidence was high following last year's success and a regular squad fixed for the season. Our LM1 Captain had some apprehension as no one knew what to expect, div 3 is somewhat unchartered waters, at least for a number of years now.

To ease us in nicely, Central fielded a very similar team to last season however, The Trinity might shon through, a 6-3 win to kick us off. All pairs played well with Ian and Mart taking all 3 rubbers in 2, closely followed by Chris and Phil taking all 3 rubbers with 1 going to 3 however both felt should have been wrapped up in 2 as lost the middle to 19. Neil and Azmath put in a valiant effort however missed out on a rubber. All agreed that each game was different in style with some mixed play in with men's, but once worked out, no drama.

Good games had by all and a nice team to play. Well done LM1 started off with a bang!

Match Report 30th October 2019

RM1 vs Lutterworth II (A)

Disappointing draw 3-3 on the night. Team was me Chris Darren and Azmath. Me and Chris went 1st pair and won both rubbers quite comfortably. Darren, maybe with his mind still on other things after a weekend in Amsterdam struggled with Azmath and unfortunately lost both rubbers. This meant we were 2-2 going into the split. Chris and Azmath took their match comfortably but me and Darren struggled against their strongest pair in the first game losing to 12. We brought it back to win the second game meaning a win in the third would secure a 4-2 victory. Unfortunately it wasn't to be and it ended up in a 3-3 draw. Confident that we will take them on the return 💪🏻
