Match report for RM2 24/01/18, by Capt Sam W. "Playing our away leg to St Phillips 3 and winning the home leg 6-0, we went into this match with confidence & expectation. The team was made up of Sam, Zaf, Rob & Darren. With Sam and Zaf partnering as 1st pair, Rob & Darren as 2nd. Zaf went in showing an unprecedented keenness showing up a full 24 hours early đ. As we entered the hall we noticed they had changed 3 of the 4 players from our last encounter and were met with some plastic shuttles, that were a lot quicker than we were used to. After our 1st 2 games we found ourselves at 2-2 with both our pairs winning against their 2nd pair and losing to their 1st. Knowing we had to win both of our splits the pressure was on. Sam & Rob took out their 1 & 3 in 2 games. 3-2. At this point Zaf and Darren were at 1-1 winning the last game 21-10. Confidence was high once more to take home the victory, unfortunately this was not meant to be losing our last game and tying up at 3-3. With a draw that somehow felt like a loss we congratulated st Phillips who were elated with their result. We now look forward to our next game against hunters, with hopes of returning to winning ways."
A bit of an upset for the RM2 boys, now needing good results against both Hunters 2 and Avon to keep that second spot in the crosshairs.
Match report by capt. Andrea:
"Mixed home game 10/01 against Mundella
8-1 win
Still top of the league
Still unbeaten
The away leg had left the team with a 7-2 win using plastics, so the home leg with feathers, and a change to the 3rd pair (who dropped both the lost rubbers) left the team optimistic.
The results rewarded the optimism, taking everything in 2, despite a couple of close games for Steve and Andrea (25-23 in one, 21-18 in another). The only dropped rubber came form Phil & Emma, as 3rd pair, losing to Mundella's 1st pair... Which is pretty reasonable in my book.
Overall a good night and another convincing win, match report says it all really.
Match report by capt Phil H:
"Match report- 3/1/18 Rm1. The team was ready for play and to stretch their legs following the festive period pitted against some of the Legends from St Philips and the absence of a lady. 6-0 to Trinity, the Captain looking a little surprised at Neil and Ben taking a game to 18đ±. But with a brief pep talk 'what was that chaps!' And the pair sufficiently motivatedđ keeping true to form the rubber was taken in 2 with the 2nd comfortably. Chris and Phil took their rubbers without any drama and the oppersition taking single figures. It was a pleasure to play against some of the Britanic players again. And 1 tube of feathers used all night including some singles!#moneyinthebank. Great friendly team. Well done Rm1đȘđ"
Nice to start the year with a match against St. Philips, and we even got to see the league chairman step on court for some actual badminton.
Nice to dust the xmas cobwebs off with a good result from a game in good spirits. That should now seal RM1 as the top team, with just 2 matches left, the return leg from Hunters 3 looming at the end of Jan.
