Match report from vice-captain ( guess we have those too now....) Chris King:
" We were without the legend Phil tonight đ¨ but I'm pleased to say RM1 literally destroyed St Phillips III. Final score 6 - 0. Started at 1930 and finished at 2045! The opposition even had a lady involved!? đWe showed no mercy! Steve showed excellent control and performed brilliant smashes when he had enough of their rallies đđĽDarren demonstrated great returns, some quality drops and smashed as much as possible against the lady đ Prem did some impressive rallys taking on their pairs however his highlight tonight was managing to get himself locked in the changing room! Thankfully Chris came and saved the day, but it was.... hilarious! đđ pub time! "
Seemingly more entertainment off court than on, but a confident victory for the RM1 boys. It is always reassuring when a team performs without it's captain... good news for when Phil returns.
Match report by captain Nathan Long:
" So the first game out for the LM2 boys, and the first competitive game ever for Daan and Kirinam, and man did they do well under pressure. Got of to a lengthy start with myself and Rich taking a good 40 minuted to complete our first three games, which unfortunately we lost 2-1. But it was all up from there, with Brad and Sam winning all of their games, myself and Rich winning the rest of ours.0 Daan and Kirinam were 20-16 down in the third game against the opposing first pair, but with some brilliant serving from Kirinam, and consistent rally lengthening shots from Daan, they managed to get to an applaud winning (literally) 24-22. A great first outing for the LM2 boys as we won 8-1 overall to Loughborough Menâs 3, and it looks like me and Rich still owe everyone a round as we lost the only rubber, guess thereâs worse problems to have. "
Great to see two players pull together in their first compettive match, and sneak that 8th rubber for the team. For those of us that have played for years it can be easy to forget how daunting the first few matches probably were. Hats of to the captain and players for this one.
Match report by captain Sam Webster:
" So with RM2 away at Avon and 3 of our team somewhat fatigued from the marathon session at the Britannic on Sunday. We called upon the Duracell bunny himself (Dave Jenkins) to give us a boost of energy. 1st Rubbers went to plan with Dave and Rob taking theirs in 2 and Sam and Brad in 3. (2-0 Trinity) Rob and Dave struggled in the next rubber, but fortunately Sam and Brad maintained composure, taking us into the split 3-1 up. With fatigue setting in Sam and Rob dropped their final rubber leaving it 3-2 to Trinity with Dave and Brad left to decide if we take the draw or the victory. This is where having a Duracell bunny paid dividends with Brad and Dave taking the final rubber to leave Trinity RM2 victorious with a 4-2 win. "
A great result for their first 'out of club' match, against a little changed team that took RM1 to 5-1...
