What's new?

Match report by Cpt. Andrea Ebrey...

"2/2/18 Newhall vs Wanlip. To set the scene, the captain had disappeared and Andrea stepped up to the plate to carry the mantle #hero. The pressure was on. A win hadn’t been secured so far this season. Even so, the team were positive and the night started off well with the ladies, Emma Tracey and Andrea taking all 4 of their matches. The men were up! Steve and Ben weren’t put under much pressure and took both of their matches. Phil and Ben next - some risky mid-court back-hand shots from Phil 👀 (still blaming his new racquet) but still took their 2 matches without any pressure.. On to the mixed.. All teams performed without any drama.. all games taken comfortably. And finishing overall at 18-0, showing that Trinity are still in the game!!! 💪💪💪 Well done team!! "

Thanks to Phil for preparing the initial draft of that report before newly promoted Cpt. Ebrey vetted it and sent out!

It was nice to avenge LM2's defeat earlier in the week, and even sweeter to do it with this team's first win of the season, even if the team did very closely resemble Leics Mixed 1...

Some solid play on the night, and a comfy result in the end.

Match report by Cpt. Nathan Long "Away at Wanlip, and not sure what to expect as we had won ever other game so far fairly comfortably, and Wanlip had not had a score on the leaderboard at this point. Turns out we had some pretty tough opponents ahead of us... We had a debut for the LM2 team in the form Dave, and a debut for Trinity in the form of Alex, and they were very respectable performances at that. We started out the night very competitively, as it was 2-1 in games after the first 40 minutes. Was great to see Dave and Kirinam forming a bond, as they had won their first leg in a game, but found themselves 17-7 down in the second leg, assuming that they’d surely be taking it to the 3rd leg. But then they’d won 1 point, and another, and another! Until they were finally got to 20-19 up, this wasn’t through their opponents fault either, it was just a great show of consistent good shots, wearing their opponents out. I was ready to celebrate, just as Dave hit an unexpected unforced error.. ‘oh no’ I thought to myself, surely they can’t lose this now... but they composed themselves and smoothly won 22-20 😎 Now at 2-2, and with some momentum and spirit on our side it was feeling good. We battled hard, but just not hard enough unfortunately, as we couldn’t win another game from that point on. There was still a good level of competitive badminton taking place, they just had the edge. 7-2 on the night, 4 out of 5 wins for us, and 3 out of 3 for them, it’s looking like our hopes of still winning the league is going to come down to our next game (which is Wanlip again). I reckon we can take the positives from the away leg, and give em hell at home! Well done to all the lads that played, even though we lost, I’d say it was the best performance from LM2 so far this season."

A shame to burst their undefeated bubble, but a good lesson to learn in their first season, and some impressive fight shown. Hopefully the return leg at home, with feathers, will restore the balance and return the team to winning ways

LM 1 vs Olympic BC, 24/01, by Ben C "3rd match for the team, and a 3rd partner for Chris... This time letting him live the dream on his bromance 👬, and play with Phil. Ian turned up a shade late, so C&P played as 1st pair, Rich & Ben as 2nd, with Ian & Steve being the sneaky 3rd pair. Olympic hadn't posted good results, so we were confident going into the match. The first round of matches almost proved this true, R&B taking their win to 15 point across the 2 games, and C&P putting in solid wins to 14 & 12. Ian and Steve started slowly, just scraping a first game to 19, following with a more confident 2nd game to 13. 3-0, in 6 games was a good start. The second round proved an improvement for most pairs, though R&B started their 2nd game 3-10 down, and looked to be heading to a 3rd when they came in to serve at 17-20 down. A few savvy points (including a flick serve past 20) and a lot of focus brought the game to a 23-21 win. 6-0, in 12 games, and match win secured. The last round saw Ian and Steve finally back in stride, conceding 11 points in the rubber, and permanently on the attack. Phil and Chris put in their nirmal solid scorelines, and Rich and Ben again decided to give their opponents a head start, and drew the match to a close on another 23-21... Value for money I think!. Overall some good rallies, but we we ulrimately just better by enough to bring home another impressice scoreline. 3-0 in the league, 26-1 on games. Bring on the next team!"

The next matches are against SSC, who post tge other undefeated record in the group... Good form.to be going into the matches that coukd decide the division!
